Grey Velvet Buttonback Sofa

charcoal velvet buttonback sofa from sofas and stuff

Here it is. Finally the Mad Sofa has landed. And I have to say we’re all pretty pleased with it. You’ll have to excuse my somewhat amateur photography but you get the idea. It’s the large Haresfield Sofa from Sofas and Stuff and it’s covered in charcoal velvet (Plymouth British brushed cotton velvet to be precise).

It cost £1,744 on the day we bought it because we got 10 per cent off for buying it on a bank holiday. The prices seem to change all the time and we then added most of the discount back on by buying the fabric care plan and paying to have the old one taken away.

So call it about £1,800 all in. As for the cushions; well the one of the left came with the old sofa nearly 11 years ago. It’s a bit worn on the corners but I still love the fabric and it goes with the Habitat Spindle light at the end. In the middle is one of a pair that was included with the new sofa and on the end is a sofa that you can buy in my Great.ly shop. It costs £67 (there is a currency converter on there) and is made in Paris by Marika Giancinti, who I met at the launch of Great.ly last week. She also makes a very cool round one, which I also quite fancy, although at the moment I am enjoying have three non-matching cushions.

Next up, time to change the pictures hanging above the sofa. This is currently with the framer and will soon be on the wall.

  1. Hello, we love your blog , particularly about the sofa. Wondered if you had looked at our website at all http://www.blueisle.co.uk? We are a small interiors company, have a sofa similar to your featured one , in linen, feather wrapped cushions , 2m long with buttons and piping at £995 currently only £895 . We are thinking of velvet for the future – kind regards

  2. Now that’s exactly the kind of sofa I want! Great shape and your velvet looks just like my favourite Varese velvet in dusk by designers guild.
