What with all this talk of schools and getting organised and so on, it felt like this was the perfect light for the time of year. The HB Pencil Lamp is by the husband and wife team Michael & George, otherwise self-styled as Designer & Delegator.
There are two versions; the tall floor lamp, which is made to order, for £988 or the smaller, desk version which is 40cm high. This is currently in development as the team are trying to make it affordable for everyone, so hang in there if that’s the version you prefer.
The floor version, which is 1.68m tall and comes with a brass ring and hand spun glass light diffuser gives as much light as a normal standard lamp. It comes with 8m of cable, the idea being that you can arrange it to look like the pencil has written something.
It’s such a cool idea and I would so love to have one in my (as yet non-existent office) and for £1,200 you can have a customised version. Mine would have to be pink or black.
