As the temperatures have suddenly plummeted it seemed like the right time to show you this gorgeous throw from my latest shop discovery Cordello Home. Doesn’t it look perfect in my sitting room? It was supposed to be a loan just for photographing and styling but I’ll be DAMNED if I give it back. I won’t, I tell you, I won’t it looks too perfect there. Besides which it’s freezing at the moment and if they want to take it they’ll have to take me too as I spend much the day actually wearing it.
Cordello was founded by Kate Shaw; the name comes from the Italian ‘cuore’ which means heart and ‘modello’ which means pattern, and this motif runs through the whole collection. In addition to this throw, which also comes in a soft teal colour, Cordello also make trays, crockery, placemats and oven gloves and cushions.
The designs are colourful and graphic; Kate also loves mid-century and you can see that influence coming through. In addition she set up a graphic design agency 10 years ago.
Now it’s true that much of the current collection is a little too bright for me. I am Eeyore to Cordello’s Tigger but, I happen to know, there is a new collection in the pipeline which, I’m told, will explore a more muted palette. Which means that there truly will be something for everyone. In the meantime go and check out the Signature breakfast set and matching tray.
This is definitely a company that I will be watching to see what they come up with next. I can’t say the same for Enid though as you can see from her expression when I put the throw next to her on her pink sofa. She looks mildly outraged but that may simply have been because I put it there without asking her highness’s humble permission first. She did later go and lie on it for a three hour, clearly much-needed, nap so I can only assume she appreciates what a gorgeous colour combination they create together.
Enid’s expression is priceless! Lover her attitude.
This throw is so beautiful and goes so well wherever you put it! I definitely need something like this to add a little luxury to my house.
I love that throw but I also love that print over the sofa and wondering where you got it. I am looking for something large like it to go over the back of our sofa. Beautiful photos as always and that cute cat!! Love her. Thanks for this post. Marie:-)
Hi Marie, it’s by a photographer called JR and my husband bought it from his online shop which doesn’t seem to exist any more. This is his site if you want to explore further.
Hi Kate,
I agree about the colors-a bit too bright for my taste so I will wait for the muted ones!
Question about your matching grey velvet cushions on your lovely sofa: are they 60×60 or 65×65? I am wondering if mine (IKEA) are too large and they resemble yours. Thanks.
All the best
Hi Monica, they are actually 55cm – I think standard ones are often 45cm so they are a little larger than that but not as big as yours. I hope that helps.
Kate
Hi Kate
Agree, the throw is lovely! We are really partial to throws/blankets in our house! Can I ask where your amazing print about your sofa is from….? Really is fab! Have a great day.x
