It seems we can never quite escape those 50 shades of grey although to be honest, there are only about four in this Marylebone apartment.

pale grey hall

Still I’m not usually a fan of the paler end of the spectrum, preferring to be a bit more dark and dramatic myself but this works really well, particularly with the wooden floors.

It’s a three bedroom flat in Marylebone that’s on for £1,495,000 with Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward so, ruling out a surprise lottery win, we’re probably looking at this one for colour inspiration, but there’s nothing wrong with that.

Next up,  we’re off to Canterbury Crescent to see this former school for sale at £1,850,000 via The Modern House.

It’s right in the centre of Brixton and set in a walled garden so it’s a rather unexpected find. There is around 2,637 sq ft of space, which has been created by joining two apartments, around a huge living room.

This has doors out onto the gardens and is reached via an entrance hall that also leads onto a large kitchen / dining room. This oart of the property also has glazed doors that lead out onto a private terrace that joins the main communal gardens that surround the building.

And for those of you who have spotted that rather fabulous kitchen island it’s a Bulthaup and described as rare which means either you can’t afford it (and by you I mean we) or it has been discontinued so either way we ain’t getting one. Shame.

There are two study spaces and while they are often crammed into small areas that no-one can decide what other use they could have, I really could work in this one as it has half height walls. A bit call centre you say? I think not in your own home.

The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom and a dressing room (converted from a bedroom) and the other two are long but pretty narrow. But the rest of it is so lovely that perhaps you could live with that. I reckon I probably could. After all, let’s be honest, it isn’t going to be me in the small rooms is it? Now children come here and be measured.

Finally, I couldn’t resist, it’s castle time again. It must be all these books on The Wars of the Roses I keep reading. Anyway, this one is in Stoke on Trent, has seven bedrooms (really quite manageable for a castle) and you can rent it for £10,000 a calendar month *coughs slightly*.

It’s got a moat though so I’m sold. There is something about the idea of living in a place with a moat. Sadly the drawbridge has gone but I guess you can’t have everything (no I don’t know why either but that’s what they told us).

Mind you, who needs a drawbridge when you can have four self-contained turrets and it’s available from 1 December either furnished or unfurnished. I’m slightly suspicious at the lack of internal images but hey, the room for the Christmas party’s already sorted isn’t it? If you’re interested it’s on with Gascoigne Halman via Zoopla.
