The Househunter 23/1/15

It’s Friiiiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaay. Time for a little snoop around some other people’s houses to get you in the mood for the weekend. And we have a lovely treat for you to start off with today. This is the home of Swedish stylist Lotta Agaton. You may not know the name but I’m sure you will recognise her work.

Her apartment is on the market with Alexander White and you can see all the details there. Of course it does help that these Swedish apartment have good bones to start with; high ceilings, mouldings, large windows and wooden floors.

But I’m sure there are other details here that we can use as inspiration for our own spaces. By which I basically mean steal! The all white kitchen with a few plants to soften the edges. And there will be more on that over the weekend…

In fact, check the plants in every room. Perfect for softening what could otherwise be a rather stark space. It’s on the market for just under £1.2m by the way, should you be, er, interested.

This room is full of wonderful pieces – those leather chairs, that long arm wall light and the wonderful mismatched cushions. Not to mention more plants. And, in the bedroom below, again lots of different textures so even though there are only two colours, the greenery from the plants and the fur, textiles and patterns all manage to make this a cosy space.

So, where shall we go next househunters? How about this penthouse apartment in Shoreditch, east London? It’s for sale via The Modern House for £950,000.

It’s on the third floor, which is the trade off for that fantastic arched window pictured below and is around 1,200 sq ft, which is big, particularly when there’s only one bedroom.

Having said that, there is space on the mezzanine which could be used as a study or guest room but if there was just one or two of you this would be great. I’m sensing party flat…

It’s close to Brick Lane, has views of many of the London landmarks and a walk-in wardrobe. SJP eat your heart out.
