It’s that time again – episode four of The Great Indoors has launched. This one is a little different as it was recorded in front of a live studio audience, which was both terrifying and great fun. I hope you will like it. It will be back to normal for the following episodes – one of which we recorded yesterday with lots of information about how to do up rental homes and plan the guest bedroom.
But back to today. The live show was recorded at a DFS event (they sponsor the show) and we spoke about planning the sitting room and where to find inspiration, among other things.
So today, in a tenuous sort of link, I wanted to share the new collection from Anna Jacobs with you as it’s perfect for both living rooms and rental homes and it’s all about stuff that makes your space look lovely but you can take it with you when you leave.
I have written about Anna before but it’s always a pleasure to support small businesses and I loved her new designs and thought you would too. Anna is, in case you can’t tell, an artist by background, but looking at these new pieces made me realise that although we are used to patterned cushions we don’t so often look to the lampshade for pattern.
And yet it’s a great, and unexpected way, to bring in a new decorative element to a room. I follow Anna on instagram and I remember seeing her develop the wonderful peacock design below over the summer.
If you tend towards blocks of plain colours then a lampshade like this would look amazing as a single focal point don’t you think? It’s also a great idea for a pendant light in a bedroom, which probably isn’t on that often as we tend towards bedside lamps in there. But a pendant light needs to look good when it’s off as well as when it’s on and something like this is like a hanging work of art from the ceiling rather than on the wall.
Now I would say that it’s a little early to start talking about 25 December but everyone else is so I shall allude to it here. And giving someone a lampshade or a cushion might not be the most obvious choice of present but I’m guessing that since most of you reading this blog care about your interiors and what goes in them, then you might not be that upset to find something like this under the tree. In which case better leave this page open next to someone’s wallet and see if they can join the dots in time for Christmas.
