Objects of Design #151: Work in Progress Plates

I love these plates. They’re called Work in Progress and if you look closely you can see why. They were inspired by 19th century pattern books and come in six different designs.

Now, given the price £21 each, I probably wouldn’t buy a whole set, which might look a little too much on the table all at once, but perhaps just mix in a few with your existing plain crockery.

Mine came from one of the seconds shops in Stoke on Trent and is, I think, seconds from the Port Meirion range, ie the plates without the flowers painted on.

Having a few of these to use as side plates or serving dishes would go really well and, as mine seconds were a bargain price, it feels justifiable to spend a bit more on a touch of the wow factor.
