Objects of Design #171: Luggage Racks

vintage luggage racks make perfect towel storage

Vintage luggage racks make for perfect towel storage. They can go high on the wall so you don’t bang your head and will hold several towels if you roll them up. Rolling is also easier to make neat than folding and means it’s easier to take down just one rather than have the whole lot cascading down on your head.

Of course, you don’t have to buy vintage ones. These days it won’t be the cheapest option, but I show you these for the idea. They are from Trainspotters and cost around £360 each.

vintage luggage racks work well in a kitchen too

But you can find them elsewhere. The London Transport Museum is selling some of the old racks from the Metropolitan line in either the original steel colour or brightly painted. Prices start at £125.
