Objects Of Design #175: Mr Gio Ladder

Towel rack

Everyone’s familiar with the idea of using an old wooden ladder as a towel rack but this takes that one step further. Somehow it could only have been made by an Italian – they are often the first to embrace new materials and add a witty touch. Alberto Alessi told me that Italians love to dance on the borderline between what is possible and what they have been told is not possible but want to try anyway. Mr Gio is just fun for either clothes in the bedroom or towels in the bathroom. Two would look amazing like this, but one on its own is pretty fantastic. £289
