Yesterday we looked at all those beautiful light bulbs that are currently having a bit of a fashion moment and today it made sense to follow that with some gorgeous glass lamp shades which would set off one of those bulbs perfectly.

There are plenty of them about at the moment and it’s really just a question of setting your budget and going shopping.

This one, pictured below, might be my all time favourite. I love the combination of glass and silk. If I were redecorating, which, let’s be honest, I haven’t done for at least three months, I would definitely want one of these either side of the bed as a reading light. I much prefer a hanging bedside light to one on a table as it makes more space on the table for all those books you’re never going to get round to reading.

Obviously at £450 a pop there would be no more eating in this house for a while. Nor any heating, but at least, while snuggled under the duvet for warmth, I would have great lighting to read my book by.

But don’t forget, you don’t have to blow the budget on a really fancy one. This one above costs £100 and you can always add a coloured flex and a fancy bulb and you have transformed it into something rather special. Or what about this one for £40 from John Lewis?

It’s been styled (or rather not styled) with an ordinary bulb and a plastic flex. Imagine changing that to a coloured flex and matching fitting, some of which we looked at yesterday, and adding a more interesting bulb. If I was clever at photoshopping pictures I would show you, but I’m not so here’s a picture of some coloured cord with a link to the shop and you can picture it for yourself.
