Objects of Design #263: Lorna Syson Cushions

black and white and grey blizzard cushion from lorna syson
Lands End blizzard by Lorna Syson £42

Cushions are such a great way to change the look of a room and, as the prices vary so much, they can be a really affordable way to fit with the seasons.

These cushions are made by Lorna Syson, who takes her inspiration from her childhood and the things she sees outside her window.

The ruffle cushion is made from a mix of wool and nettle fabric which is woven in Yorkshire. Apparently if left in the right environment, it will completely biodegrade in a few weeks. But don’t worry – your sofa isn’t the right environment so you won’t lose your cushions.

In addition to cushions, she also creates wallpaper, fabrics and lampshades as well as unusual 3D fabric flowers which fix to the wall and would look great in a bedroom.
