Objects Of Design #323: Bedside Shelf

Every now and then (well quite often actually) I see something that I just instantly fall in love with and want. And this is one of those things. These powder coated aluminium shelves are available in a range of colours (you can see the dark grey ones on the far side of the bed) and actually provide four shelves because you can tuck things at the back.

The French manufacturer, Vidame, built its own bending machine because it couldn’t find anyone who could do it to the required standard.

One of the other, quite incidental reasons, I love it is that bedrooms are often very low spaces and adding a piece of furniture that gives a bit of height somehow turns it into a loftier space.

    1. They’re gorgeous aren’t they? Plywood is an interesting idea, I guess they could steam bend it. Perhaps we should have a word with the manufacturer.
