Objects of Design #33: Theatre Bench

I want these in my hall. Perfect for sitting on to put on shoes, or while you’re (inevitably) waiting for the last stragglers to come down the stairs. The seats fold up so they don’t take up much room which makes them ideal for narrow Victorian hallways. I also quite fancied some along one side of the table for the same reason; more comfortable than a bench but taking up just as little space.

The first time I saw vintage theatre seats like this was in a restaurant in Italy about ten years ago. I have been hunting for some ever since. And here, finally, they are. They also completely fit in with the current industrial chic trend, which basically means the more battered they get the better they look. Another plus if you have children.
