Objects Of Design #343: Stacking Concrete Pots

I just love these concrete stacking pots from new company Between Dog and Wolf, which was set up last year. It’s from the French: entre chien et loup, a phrase often used to describe the passage of time from dusk to night. It’s the space in which day and night co-exist – where the dimming light could confuse a dog for a wolf.

Many of their products reflect this time of day – dark and moody, matt and glossy.

This stacking pot would work on your desk for paperclips and such like. But how about on the table for salt and pepper? It will develop a warm and organic patina with age as it’s handled.

Cast in a hand made mould, hand burnished and finished with two coats of carnauba wax.

But while you’re here, take a look at some of the rest of their tableware.

Handmade in Amsterdam, this dark brown-black ceramic cup has an inner transparent gloss glaze.

Or these gorgeous plates
Perfect for side salads, desserts or morning toast, the plates are fragile in appearance, yet strong in use due to high firing temperatures.

So there you have it. The weather’s rubbish, you don’t want to go out so you might as well settle yourself inside and make sure you’ve got all the equipment for cosy coffee mornings and treatish tea times.
