Doesn’t this look inviting. It’s all from the Danish Design Company Cane-Line and I’m not expecting you to buy the whole lot but take a look at the elements, see how it’s been styled and think about how you can bring some of that to your own outside space.

They specialise in hand-woven materials, water and weatherproof furniture. And of course that all fits with the current theme of bringing the inside out and vice versa. I’ve wanted an outdoor rug for ages and they are just beginning to appear now. Some of you may remember the Swedish Pappelina plastic rugs I featured a few weeks ago. This one is designed to drain rainwater (although be realistic if you leave it outside in the current conditions it won’t survive)  and comes in this blue/grey or a white/brown combination.

  1. Thanks for this fabulous feature, Kate! We’re really pleased to have Cane-line on display in store. The rugs are made from their unique ‘Cane-Tex’ fibre – which was developed in conjunction with yacht designers so it is phenomenally tough. It can resist temperature extremes of -60 to +80 degrees C, is totally UV-resistant and is ultra-quick-drying. So it will never rot or fade. It can also be scrubbed and jet-washed if need be. Fabulous stuff! Thanks again, Marius

  2. The rugs look great and would make a brilliant picnic blanket (if they’re not too heavy) – I’ve stopped counting how many times I got a damp bottom sitting on a normal blanket… Sorry if that’s too much information 😉
