Peacock Door Handles

Now listen carefully because this is one of those Objects of Design that is so of the moment that it’s practically hitting you with its tail as you read.

So where to start. Let’s keep this simple:

1 The flamingo is dead, long live the peacock

which makes this a cool way to buy into a trend because it’s less obvious than buying a cushion with a peacock on it

2 Brass is still a strong look

although there is a gradual (and very early stage) move towards chrome, but brass is still huge and will be for at least a couple of years. It’s always been a classic, unlike copper which is about to start looking dated.

3 Teal is the new in-colour

and obviously yer classic peacock rocks a suit of mainly teal, but if you have these handles you are showing you are aware of that trend without stamping all over it. Having said that it IS a gorgeous colour so why not paint the walls in peacock blue and keep these handles as a more subtle, unexpected way of buying into the trend. Try Vardo from Farrow & Ball by the way.

4 Always remember the touch points

because those are the things that people remember and that make using your house a more pleasant experience. An interesting door handle, or light switch, is an important, and yet small detail that makes all the difference to the living in it.

5 Because decorating your house should be fun

and I know it can be large sums of money but these handles are £40 from Rockett St George and they just might make you smile every time you see them. Obviously not all of you. The Mad Husband is a little birdphobic so we won’t be adding these any time soon but if he wasn’t I would. How fabulous on a dining room if you have such a place. Or a bedroom perhaps or the wardrobe doors. And don’t forget you don’t need to have double doors as you will need one on each side.

So peacock handles. Possibly the most unexpected on trend thing you will see all year. Let’s amend that to have seen so far this year… Don’t want to rush in too soon with the big claims.

  1. Well again another gorgeous find.
Rockett St George no surprise there.
I completely agree that the finishing touches in a home need to catch the eye as small as they may be.
My love for Flamingos still go on however not in interiors. Peacocks all the way.
