Pink and Grey Rug

Isn’t this a pretty rug. It’s all my favourite colours together – shades of grey and shades of blush pink. I can even cope with that single rogue yellow stripe although ordinarily that would upset me enormously. So, where shall I put it? For those of you who also like it it’s 210cm long and 85cm wide – making it a definite runner but, if you wanted it for a square area, there’s nothing to stop you buying two and sewing them together for bigger coverage.

And if you need help justifying that, it’s made by a FairTrade co-operative so you’re being incredibly helpful buying more than one. It’s from Plumo and it’s £159 by the way. It would look amazing on a dark painted floor but mine are all white painted and it would look pretty good on those as well.

In fact, now that my kitchen cupboards are painted black, I can see a perfect slot for it in front of the shelves and behind the island. And before you all start shouting about practicalities, I know from experience that rugs like that just don’t show the dirt. Let’s face it, it’s going to show a lot less dirt than white floorboards isn’t it?

And while we’re looking at the cupboards, say hello to my fiddle leaf fig. Enjoy it while it lasts I don’t have the best record with house plants…..

  1. This rug is very stylish. I love that it doesn’t take up the whole space – I’ve seen people do this many times. I don’t know, I guess it doesn’t suit my style. And the colouring goes well with the rest of the kitchen 🙂

  2. I have been waiting for a peek into your black kitchen – looks fab. I like the idea of a rug around the kitchen area – I recall when I was growing up my Mum having a large plastic coloured mat in the cooker/sink zone. She would shake it out most evenings.

  3. Of course you need it! I often find a good way of convincing is to let them see it in-situ, then they’ll wonder how they ever lived without it… ? Love your kitchen units – rug would look perfect in there!

  4. i have a rug just in front of the sink unit and yes it gets a few ‘crumbs’ etc but you just have to shake it outside – personally much easier than grabbing the hoover!
without it now looks so bare.
i suggested a rug in this place for a client yesterday and she was fearful of tripping over it but I had to point out there are other rugs in the house and no one seems to trip over these so not quite sure why people suddenly think you will trip over them in a kitchen ? strange

    1. That’s hilarious and so true. And shaking it out by the back door is the perfect solution. Now to convince him outdoors that we really, really need it….
