Postcard from the Podcast (106)

This week we are discussing how to manage your build budget. In the last show (105) we looked at how to get the designer look for less when it comes to your interiors – have a listen for our insider secrets – and this time we are taking the chat to the build. Tom, The Builder Husband, takes time out from his own site management to advise on how you can look at the design to remove thousands of pounds rather than saving a few hundred by offering to do the painting yourself. Do have a listen here.

Here’s a little before and after for you of my son’s room where we changed the French doors – wood is much cheaper than fashionable crittal for example.

We are also thrilled to introduce our new sponsors Corston.com makers of beautiful sockets and switches, handles and hinges and lighting for inside and out so you can co-ordinate the range across your whole house. I am using the antique bronze but there are also brass, polished nickel and clear perspex options. We will be telling you more about them over the course of the month.

  1. Patterns and colorful walls are indispensable elements to highlight the house. I like your combination and moderation in using them.

  2. Just finished your Masterclass on Create Academy – so enjoyed all the information as am taking on the task of updating our home of over 40 years. Have not read any of your books – Mad about the house Planner sounds like a good read for my new project of updating our home.
