Look at this pretty little stool with her pink cushion and delicate grey dip-dyed feet. It’s a collaboration between the furniture makers the Galvin Brothers and Tori Murphy who makes beautiful cushions and throws. Both of them make everything in the UK so it’s a truly British collaboration. This is her Hamilton design and it’s also available in cushions and a giant pouf if you wanted more of this pattern.
In addition to the stool, the Galvins have also opened their first real-life shop. We’re so used to people setting up new web-sites that it feels almost retro to be writing about a proper shop made of bricks and mortar, but, as you would expect, it’s been beautifully done and if you’re visiting Yorkshire then it would be worth a trip and a little browse about.
They decided to open it after the success of their pop-up shop in London last year and, as well as selling their own furniture, decided to stock other items including lighting, stationery and ceramics from other local designers that fit with their own ethos.
The shop is in Beverley and, as Matthew says, it was about giving customers the chance to see and touch their work before buying.
I love the new stool but my heart will always belong to the pippy oak benches.
Here are the details of the shop if you’re up that way.
