It’s taken me a while to make my mind up about these pendant lamps, but suddenly, now that the summer is here, they feel perfect for the long summer days. Designed by Chilean Creative Director Nelson Sepulveda for Ay Illuminatethe Z1 pendant lamp is a celebration of local handicraft crafts and skills from different cultures.

The frame is made from bamboo and the whole light is 100cm tall which means they would really make a statement without being too heavy when they’re off, if you see what I mean. The Z5 is 57cm tall although, as with the Ikea Makros, I’d be tempted to say if you can’t fit the big one then buy something else. The difference in price is minimal – £25.

It also comes in black sisal, which I love equally. Possibly more. What do you think? It’s available from Bodie and Fou.
