Now I don’t know about you but I thought I knew all there was to know about Anglepoise. A desk lamp that does what its name describes. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that, having written about its invention and elevation to design classic I thought I knew more than the average person.
But it turns out there’s more to this British classic than a desk lamp. Like these giant pendant lamps to start with. And the brass collection. Yes I know, that’s how I found it.
The trouble with the desk lamp, for me anyway, is that there are so many millions of copies and “inspired bys” out there that I feel it’s become rather a cliche. I’m much more taken by the French Industrial Jielde lamp these days.
But then I found these, and for a big fat sexy industrial pendant light these are pretty good aren’t they? That red one looks amazing in the top picture. That wallpaper, by the way, is Cow Parsley by Sanderson and has long been a favourite of mine. It’s a strong contender for the master bedroom when the Zoffany Tulip needs a change.
What do you think. Perhaps I’ll have to hang a giant brass Anglepoise 1227 in front of it as well.
