Objects of Design #103: Belly Desk by Steuart Padwick

With a name like that it had to be included in this month’s series on storage. I’m not sure its belly is quite big enough for the amount of storage that I seem to need to cram away but it might encourage a little more tidiness in future.

Designed by Steuart Padwick the slim legs give it a rather elegant streamlined look, while the drawer, built on traditional runners, goes back a long way so you can keep documents and other bits of desk paraphernalia out of sight.

Steuart also made the fabulous horseshoe chair pictured above too. The brand was launched in September 2009 and, as well as designing his own range, he has also made pieces for other retailers, including The Conran Shop, Heals and Made.com.

In addition to the Belly, I love the Double Cross table which folds in half – literally, both the top and the legs, to become a narrow console table which you can open out if you needed a bigger space for guests.

You can choose what colour you would like the legs as well as the Belly.
