Ten years ago, twin brothers Anthony and Richard Joseph took a long close look at some every day kitchen implements and decided to make them better. The result was the Joseph Joseph Chop2Pot, the hinged chopping board that allowed you to pour what you had sliced straight into a pan without spilling it all over the hob.
That piece is now in the permanent collection at MoMA in New York and the twins have gone on to create many more pieces that, once you have tried them, seem to become indispensable in every kitchen.
My personal favourite, from a usefulness point of view, is the lemon reamer which catches all the pips. Yes, it’s a really simple idea. That’s the point. But it really does save you fishing about in the sticky juice for the one that slipped through your fingers.
To celebrate their 10th anniversary, they are launching the 100 Collection, some of their most innovative products that have been re-issued in fashionable grey and, where possible, in premium materials.
The Index chopping board collection, with its labels for meat, fish and vegetables, the garlic chopper and the Elevate range of kitchen tools have already been launched. While the Nest, breadboard and storage jars are due out in the next few weeks.
I have always loved the Nest and now that it’s in grey it’s even better.
