Gold Tripod Side Table

Well if anything was going to sum up the beauty of brass and navy (and bring over those waverers who are still looking at copper and grey) then this is it. The walls are painted in Little Greene’s Basalt, a colour I have featured before but which changes according to the light. So, on my computer and in my kitchen it looks like a rich, dark navy. You might find it moves more towards black in your own house.

But never mind that, we’re here to talk about this gorgeous brass side table which has tripod legs and a mirror top. The top has a slightly spotted finish to give the patina of age and I love how it’s soaking up the rich colour of the wall and just reflecting the gold coral in its surface.

It costs £172 and would go perfectly by an elegant bed, in a hall (you don’t want anything too large in there as you’ll just cover it with rubbish – discipline is the key to hall storage) or at the end of the sofa, preferably holding a large Martini.

  1. Hi Kate
Another beautiful and luminous example of a dark wall. I love Downpipe and now this Basalt colour is calling out to me. I’m tempted to paint the chimney breast and fireplace a dark grey/black. Are painted feature walls a design no-no now?

  2. I agree – stunning. Now wavering over the grey and gold choice made for my bathroom, again…..I wanted navy but couldn’t find the perfect matt tiles. Too late now though the plumber starts today!

    1. Yes you may be a little ahead of the curve with matt blue tiles. I won’t look for you in case I find some and it’s too late, but I’m pretty sure that grey and gold will be stunning (and perhaps a little less trend-led). Navy is so new we may find we all tire of it and I do think that grey is here to stay in various forms.
