Objects of Design #123: Verity Soup Bowls

Another month, another series of Objects of Design and this month we are In The Dining Room. Or the kitchen come to that. Call it what you will, this month is all about gorgeous tableware and furniture for the space in which you choose to eat.

So we set off with these great bowls from Toast. They’re handmade in Stoke on Trent, wide and shallow with a gorgeous faded exterior and a glossy white interior,  which is perfect as it won’t fight with the colour of the food.

They come in chalk, pebble grey and washed blue and, if you buy the sycamore boards to go with them, it doubles up as a lid or a plate for the crusty bread that must surely be served with any bowl of soup.

See, I don’t even really like soup and I have totally talked myself into it now. Presentation counts for everything, clearly.

They do cost £25 I know, but then again, soup is a lunch for two, so there’s no need to panic about buying sets of eight or 12. And being mismatched is very en vogue so you can always buy one at a time and mix them up with something else.
