I do love a clock. As I’ve said before not in a morbid-time-is-passing-woe-is-me kind of way but as an object of decoration. I’ve never really been one for ornaments although I have, inevitably, ended up with a few dotted about. Clocks are a great to hang on a wall, balance on the mantelpiece or stick on a bookshelf and because they’re all different they each bring something different to a space.
I have a vintage clock face, a 1960s Dieter Rams one, a giant fob watch and an Art Deco Batman number made by the eldest child in tech last year. It’s rather fabulous but very yellow which I find quite stressful as a colour. Then there’s the cuckoo clock, the traditional alarm clock and the clock radio – which, given that I received it for my 21sst birthday, is also rather vintage these days.
This list has made me realise that I pretty much have two clocks in each room. Which may, on balance, be excessive. But I love them all. This rather fabulous brass and marble round number is on the new desk in the loft. It’s part of the new collection from BoConcept, a Danish brand founded in 1952. If you don’t know them then do have a wander round the site. They have everything from furniture to lighting via textiles and mirrors and it’s all terribly stylish and totally functional as most Danish furniture seems to be.
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.
