New Ikea Stockholm Collection

13th April 2017

two seater navy blue velvet sofa from the stockholm collection at Ikea £895 and pouffe £85

After yesterday’s daring green sofa today we are turning to the more restful shades of blue. Blue is regularly voted the world’s favourite colour and the soft denim shades of this colour from dark indigo to stonewash are very on trend this year. Mind you navy blue is a classic that will never go out of fashion. It works with white but it’s a bit of a cliche so for a more modern take throw in some blush pink or – as seen above and everywhere in Milan last week – a deeper more rust version.

These pieces are all from the new Stockholm collection at Ikea – you may remember yesterday’s green sofa was from last year’s range. The Stockholm collection was launched in 1984 and this year there are 47 pieces made from natural materials including rattan and handblown glass. Yes, that’s handblown glass at Ikea.

I love the mix of rich, dark velvet with the rattan chairs which look, unlike many of this type, to be really comfortable but I haven’t sat in them yet so don’t take my word for it until you have. And when you do make sure to report back to us.

I am stunned that they are so lovely! There are curtains too “Sanela” in the same cotton velvet.

You said you haven’t sat in the rattan chairs. Have you tried the sofa?

I do like the mix of the blue couches and the blue hand blown glass. I agree the color never goes out of style but I do like your suggestion to mix it up a bit.
