Just a quick one today: this pretty sugar shaker that brought a smile to my face and is only £7.50. I have been looking for a cool sugar pot for ages. I don’t take sugar and neither does anyone else in the house but that doesn’t seem to matter.

A few years ago, on holiday in Italy, I was in a cafe which had one of those large dispensers with a flap that pours out one teaspoon and then stops. Clever, as it stops those pesky children just upending the thing over their cereal, strawberries, mouths until it’s empty.

I immediately embarked on a search and found only one, in a hideous green coloured glass which wouldn’t do at all. So I didn’t buy it. That was three years ago. I had almost abandoned the search for the perfect sugar shaker and then I saw this.

This will do. It doesn’t dispense in measured amounts, but it will look good on my shelf and that, my friends, is enough.

  1. it’s really sweet design, I love sugar shakers to dispense the icing sugar on the desserts – it’s just so easy! I’m currently crazy about the Morroccan designs, and some time ago I found vintage sugar shaker in silver plated chrome, which is shaped like morroccan building, shame I can’t upload the photo, but it’s really pretty!
