Well I know the odds of a sunny long bank holiday weekend are slim and I know that we had one over Easter – four days of a heat so intense we could have been in Spain, but boy have we been punished for that ever since. It’s been so cold we’ve put the heating back on, lit the fire and I find myself reaching for a throw in the evenings when cuddled – or should that be huddled – on the sofa watching television (Bad Banks since you ask). So I thought I would round up five of the best throws for today’s post. Obviously there are hundreds of the things about. I just liked these ones.
On the site it’s billed as anthracite but I think it’s one of those shades that can be navy if you want it to – depending on what you put it with. And, of course if you don’t want to buy it without copping a feel, you can head off to the new store where you will find it for £17.99. And yes that floral cushion is also from H&M – not the usual Scandi fare I grant you.
This one is actually called army green, which just goes to show that the camera frequently lies and not just when it comes to the size of my waistline. Anyway, it’s cotton and capacious and costs £115.
I called this pale pink number in for my Cox & Cox shoot a few weeks ago and sadly it has been returned, but at £45 I could have done worse than buy it from them. It is incredibly thick and soft although it’s acrylic which won’t work for some for environmental reasons. There is a wool one here for £52.
Or what about these which are made from soft cotton gauze and come in two sizes (130 x 180 or 180 x 230cm) priced at £59 and £99 respectively.
Finally this very pretty orange and grey throw from made.com, which is made in Portugal and costs £25 (also acrylic) but look out for the rest of the collection, which includes wool, linen and cotton.
And let’s be honest – this is not something you’re going to use once and throw away. The vagaries of the British weather mean that as long as you buy one you love the design of you will be using it for summer evenings in the garden as well as winter nights and spring afternoons.
I love the Cox and Cox one too. Haven’t looked at Made.com for a while so I will check those out. A timely post; we are just about to move into our first house which needs total redecoration and some renovation.
A new sofa is way way down the list but a couple of good throws are do-able.
Although they will end up clawed by the cats and covered with hair!
Anna – I also have a moulting/muddy dog so have a couple of basic fleece type throws for the sofa which can be popped in the wash regularly and then a couple of more expensive throws on hand to wrap about oneself if required!
