Believe it or not this is not the first wooden rug I have seen. I was going to buy one from Seletti a few years ago but realised that it was quite thick and that if I forgot to step up onto it I would stub my toe, so I abandoned the idea for practicality’s sake. Most unlike me I know but still, I’m not the only person who lives in this house and sometimes you have to concede defeat.

Anyway, I have just found this one by German designer Elisa Strozyk and it’s much much thinner so that wouldn’t be an issue. It’s much much more expensive too but never mind that now.
It’s so flexible that you can roll it up as you see in the images above. The Ashwood costs around £1,600 and the other styles, which use more types of wood are more. You can see them on Clippings.

Of course, having discovered her on Clippings I had to see what else she made and there’s plenty of other wonderful pieces. She was born in Berlin and trained in London and Paris.

In addition to the furniture and rugs, she has also come up with a collection of embossed wallpaper.

I also love this Miss Maple light too.

What do you think? I’d definitely like a rug. I’m less sure about a wooden bedspread though.
