Well Sweden was lovely but it’s time to come home now and have a look around this little (HAHA) gem in Highgate, north London. It’s on with Knight Frank for about, ooh, £4.9m but we won’t let a little detail like that trouble us will we?

It’s a pretty nice looking pile isn’t it. There are six bedrooms, three bathrooms and two receptions. Garden, off-street parking. All mod cons!

And just imagine having a room this size that you can basically leave empty apart from two chairs and a wall of books. I mean we need a rug in there but apart from that, I’ll happily move in.

This huge sitting room is lovely too. We can only imagine what the view is like from all those windows – must be pretty good if they’ve arranged all the furniture in sight of it. I love floorboards and faded rugs too. This looks like a real room and not one that has been so styled you’d be afraid of sitting down for fear of messing the place up.

Finally this office room is amazing. It needs a complete refurb but imagine keeping these tiled walls and painting the floorboards underneath white and getting a really fabulous desk – under the window so you can see the trees.

Anyway, moving on from Highgate, we’re going west now. And this house may be familiar to some of you from the current issue of Living Etc. It’s the home of florist Nikki Tibbles and it’s on with Domus Nova for £5,950,000.

It has three bedrooms but lots and lots  of living space which is often better for some people who don’t need masses of bedrooms but want a couple of sitting rooms and perhaps some office space.

This kitchen is pretty fabulous too although I couldn’t live with that yellow. No I could not. But I could happily paint the shelves in almost any other colour on the spectrum. I’m thinking black to show off everything I would put on them.

This wallpaper may be a little too dramatic for me but I love that it is on every wall. That Nikki has had the courage of her convictions and hasn’t just created one feature wall. She has committed to that wallpaper and it looks all the better for it.

Her bedroom is also a very pretty shade of grey with the lavender accessories although I can’t imagine how long it takes to get into bed at night when you have to remove all those cushions. And who, frankly could be bothered to put them all back on again the next morning? It’s a cool bed though with the wraparound headboard and footboard.

Gorgeous grey bathroom too. And look at the marble basin surround. I would happily take a soak in here.
