Oh how I love this light. You know I love a joke or a trompe l’oeil or a hint of the unexpected, call it what you will, and this cartoonish lamp completely appeals. It’s by Sabrina Fossi Design and the idea is that the classic shape serves to highlight its purpose: light.
It has to be wall-mounted and I like the idea of putting it on a shelf which adds another layer to the joke, but I have to admit it also looks pretty cool as a bedside lamp in the picture above. And think of the space you save by not having to have it on a table. More space for that pile of books you haven’t quite got round to reading yet.
In addition to the light, which comes in five colours (available from Clippings) the Italian company also makes the Freakish clock (their name not mine) and takes the idea of the light and turns it into a vase.
The lights, which are made from wood, retail at around £98.
