Aren’t these great? Inspired by the insulators on telephones they really are true to the notion of industrial style. They come in both pendant and wall mounted styles and, as you can see from the image, in a choice of colours.

They’re available from US brand Waterworks who were at Decorex for the first time this year as a preview to opening their first store in London next March.

Founded in 1978, the company now produces everything from lighting and taps to bathtubs and washstands. These lights can go in the bathroom (and kitchen come to that) as long as they’re not over the shower. They would, for example, look great on either side of a mirror. Hollywood style goes industrial sort of thing.

Now they are a luxury brand, so with that in mind I’ll tell you that prices start at £700 for the simple clear glass version. But I’ve said it before … if you’re going to have one stand-out feature in a room, lighting is often a good thing to choose. And failing that you can always go for a wander round your local salvage yard and make friends with an electrician.
