Aren’t these whale plates just gorgeous? As many of you know I don’t like things to be too symmetrical and matchy matchy and I love the idea that the pattern on these plates carries across. Add to that the black and white design and subtle gold rim and I’m sold.

They are part of the monochrome collection by Yvonne Ellen and are made in Stoke on Trent. They’re sold as a pair for £55 and the dinner plate measures 26cm (10 inches) in diameter and the side plate is16cm (6 inches). They would also look great hanging on the wall.

The collection includes other animals if whales aren’t your thing – although really why wouldn’t they be? Mind you, perhaps whales are becoming a trend – like the pineapples – I have been admiring these trays from Rockett St Geoge for a while now.

Ooooo whale or stag? Can’t decide!
