I recently wrote about a new book by stylist Joanna Thornhill which is all about tips and tricks to make your home more you. It’s aimed at those in rented accommodation and first time buyers who have no money left to buy furniture once they’ve bought the walls and roof.
I felt at the time, and still do, that this is a book that works for anyone who needs inspiration or help with customising pieces for their own houses (not just renters) and since I read it I have been looking more closely at ways that you can bring a little more individuality to the things you buy.

Then I found this site; Hunters Collectors and that chimed exactly with that sentiment. However, recognising that not everyone is going to get into DIY, they have done some of the work for you.
Owner Jules Hayman has found designers who customise old furniture or add a contemporary twist like furniture artist Bronwyn Hahn whose range is exclusive to the site. Or designer Kate Noakes, who works on a commission basis, working with you to identify the right piece of vintage or mid-century furniture and then applying colour and metallic marquetry to it to create unique and personalised jewel like furniture creations.

It’s perfect for those of us who want something different but are missing the time or skills to do it for ourselves. Have a browse about and see what you think.
