Steel Desk

I spent years wanting a vintage steel desk. For a long time there was one in the window of our local antique/retro/junk shop but it cost around £1,800 and was way out of our budget. I think perhaps it was way out of anyone else’s too as it was there for such a long time.

Those desks are still around, although I had given up hope of ever being able to spend that much on a single piece of furniture so I made alternative arrangements. The kitchen table basically. But the other day I saw this great desk from Rose and Grey and it fits the bill perfectly.

It’s a nod to the industrial style without meaning you have to move into a loft apartment forthwith. The patterned glass on the sides, which, if it was on a door, would upset me, is perfect to soften the steel.

It would also work really well as a dressing table for those that would like one but don’t want some frilly, fussy feminine thing. In fact, as I now have a desk, I am seriously considering this for the bedroom. Wouldn’t it look amazing with a bottle of Coco Mademoiselle on it, which is the perfect shade of nude pink to offset the metal.
