Sometimes it’s the simple things that bring the most pleasure. And today that simple thing is a laundry bag. My beautiful (and rather expensive hyacinth) basket has finally died. This may have rather more to do with Enid Cat using it as a chew toy and bolt hole than it not being up to the job of laundry carrying, I have to admit.
Anyway, the point is that it’s time for a new one and I really don’t want to spend huge amounts of money. But I do want it to look good. That age-old interiors dilemma. These fit the bill perfectly. Black or white – because monochrome is always good. Tough carrying handles because my house is all stairs. And capacious – I have two sons and a husband who seem to produce extraordinary quantities of dirty clothes.
They’re made from thick polyester with a plastic lining from H&M and cost £12.99. I’m thinking one for each child’s bedroom and one for the bathroom. I’m fairly confident that the youngest will use it as toy storage but at least if the toys are in the bag and the laundry’s on the floor it will reduce the amount of sorting I have to do by at least 50 per cent so I’m still winning.
